Fixing items free of charge

Fixing items free of charge* at St Anne's Church Baslow

*donations welcome

How does it work?

The way it works is that tons of perfectly good things get thrown out because we don't know how to fix them.  no-one wins, (except for people who sell new stuff) and the environment suffers.  A team of local volunteers from Baslow, Bakewell and Eyam are offering their fixing skills to give things a new lease of life.  Below you will find a list of the sorts of things we can fix, and those we cannot.  Bring your broken stuff to St Anne's and have some tea, coffee and cake while you wait.  We just ask for a generous donation to our Toilet Twinning project.  You can find the link on thestannesbaslow.org website.

Your broken item will be assessed to determine whether it is fixable.  We can normally accept one item per person.  Our repairers cannot stock every zip of switch that might be needed. So if you know what is needed please bring it along.  eg for electrical items bring everything that is needed to make it work (eg the base of a kettle, the light bulb to fit a broken lamp)

Here’s the list but do please contact us if sure aren’t sure about the item you want to bring.

We can’t accept for repair:

  • Heaters - gas, electric or paraffin
  • Gas appliances
  • Heavy duty power tools
  • Electric blankets
  • Mobile phones
  • High voltage appliances
  • Some children's toys

We’d love to hear from anyone interested in joining our team of repairers; if you can do any one or more of the following: garment repairs, electrical repairs, mobile phones, mechanical repairs.

For more information about volunteering, please email: hello@stannesbaslow.org.uk
