How does it work?

We’re proud to be part of a worldwide network of repair cafes. Qualified volunteers aim to repair items so you can still use them rather than throwing them out. This saves people money and cuts down the huge amounts of stuff going to landfill.

  • Bring your item(s) for repair. If we are very busy repairs are limited to one per person. Please see below for a list of what we can and can’t try to repair.
  • If relevant, please bring batteries or bulbs that fit your appliance as we can’t stock a complete range.
  • Stay and enjoy free refreshments and watch your repair being carried out. You can’t leave your item with us but if you live locally you can always nip back later if we are particularly busy.

Here’s the list but do please contact us if sure aren’t sure about the item you want to bring.

We can try to repair:

  • Clothing (repairs not alterations)
  • Toasters, Lamps, Radios, HiFi
  • General household items
  • Computers
  • Furniture (with an upholstery safety label)
  • Items that need sharpening

We can’t accept for repair:

  • Electric heaters
  • Gas appliances
  • Heavy duty power tools
  • Electric blankets
  • Mobile phones (at the moment!)

We’d love to hear from anyone interested in joining our team of repairers; if you can do any one or more of the following: garment repairs, electrical repairs, mobile phones, mechanical repairs.
